In an effort to applaud the community service completed by the young people in the area and to inspire more young people to follow suit, Hands & Feet Movement has committed to offer a $500 scholarship to one student from Northridge, johnstown, and in 2026, Utica.

Hands & Feet Movement Community Service Scholarship Winners

2025 Northridge Winner Courtney Bevier

Courtney Bevier completed an impressive 515 hours of community service during high school. These hours were spent doing a variety of activities. She has served as a traffic director for the annual Johnstown Fireman’s Festival parade, a group leader at her church’s Vacation Bible School, a volunteer at the Licking County Humane Society where she helped with spay and neuter clinics and took care of the animals, a camp counselor at 4-H Camp Ohio where she spends the week with campers teaching them about leadership and responsibility, FFA where they hold multiple events that help the community like a live nativity scene at Croton Church of Christ, Ag day, Falloween, and Ag in the classroom. She volunteers through 4-H at the Hartford Fair to clean up the pig barn and museum, teaching parents all about 4-H at Discovery 4-H, and recently talking during Quality Assurance meetings about the vet tech program at C-Tec. Recently C-Tec has started  a community service club where students helped build houses with Habitat of Humanity. She participated in the Hands & Feet Summer Community Service program where she participated in activities like cleaning up her road, donating clothes, making a box of sunshine, and so much more. She says all these experiences have helped shape her into the person she is today and she is thankful for the opportunities they have given her.

Our recipient plans to keep volunteering in 4-H, at church, at zoo camp, and at the Licking County Humane Society while also exploring the volunteer opportunities in her new college community.

We are positive this young lady has made our community a better place through her service and we wish her the best in her next steps. She plans to study Zoo Veterinary Technology at Otterbein University.

2025 Johnstown Winner Brookelynn Siegel

Brookelynn Siegel completed 200 hours of community service during high school. These hours were spent doing a variety of activities. She has volunteered at her church on Sundays, during vacation Bible school, and for special events like the Christmas pajama night. She completed the Hands and Feet Summer Community Service Program by writing letters to service members, picking up trash, stocking little free libraries and blessing boxes, donating supplies for boxes of sunshine, helping neighbors with yard work, and delivering snacks to the police department. She has spent time volunteering with the New Albany Miracle League by helping children with disabilities play sports. She has volunteered with Johnstown athletics and 4-H for many activities, including those benefiting Angels Persist and the Licking County Humane Society. She has worked for the past several years with the Johnstown/Northridge Adopt-a-Child and Wagons Ho Ho Ho programs.

This young lady has a passion for teaching about Jesus and for mental health advocacy. She has a desire to continue volunteering locally and in her new college environment.

We are positive this young lady has made our community a better place through her service and we wish her the best in her next steps. She plans to study early childhood education at Muskingum University.

2024 Johnstown Winner Ava Peterman

2024 Northridge Winner Travis Allen

Our scholarship winner completed 170 hours of community service during high school. These hours were spent doing a variety of activities: helping with the Oak Creek Bible Worship Team, helping with children’s events at church, feeding people and sharing her faith with homeless via Heaven Train, helping with Big Red Band fundraisers, helping children with disabilities play baseball via Miracle League Network, helping with softball youth camp, shopping for a family in need at Christmas, helping to clean up after the Hartford Fair, and packing Thanksgiving boxes at the food pantry.

When asked to come up with a creative, impactful idea for community service in our area, this student had an awesome one! In her words, “I think that a fun project that would benefit the Johnstown/Northridge communities could be a celebration of music through community collaboration. This project would aim to revitalize the musical landscape of Johnstown and Northridge through a series of community-driven music events. This would have an impact by strengthening community bonds, showcasing local talent, and revitalizing the cultural scene”. We love this idea, and hope to implement it someday!

We are positive this young lady has made our community a better place through her service and we wish her the best in her next steps. She plans to study music and science education at Ohio Wesleyan University.

2024 Northridge Winner Travis Allen

2024 Northridge Winner Travis Allen

Our scholarship winner completed 617 hours of community service during high school. These hours were spent doing a variety of activities: volunteering in an elementary classroom, visiting residents at our nearby nursing home, serving food via the National Coalition for the Homeless in Washington DC, acting as a summer camp counselor, and acting as the community service chair for the Modern 4H club. This student was on the Ohio 4H Teen Leadership Council and the Hartford Junior Fair Board. He served as the Ohio State Fair Event Youth Assistant and as the Hartford Fair King.

When asked to come up with a creative, impactful idea for community service in our area, this student had an awesome one! In his words, “Through my work at Johnstown Pointe Nursing Home, I realized that there is a big problem with senior citizen loneliness. I believe that we, as a community, could come together to help combat this problem. My idea is a sort of "adopt-a-grandparent" program where the young people (could be any age really) are assigned a senior citizen and do specific activities with them and for them”. We love this idea and plan to implement it in the near future!

We are positive this young man has made our community a better place through his service and we wish him the best in his next steps. He plans to major in business administration at Otterbein University.
